Woodside is getting its first Filipino American History Month parade. Sunday, October 18, 2026, noon to 6 p.m.

The march starts at General Hart Playground, 65-01 37th Avenue. The block party is on 70th Street between Roosevelt Avenue and 41st Avenue, next to the Little Manila Avenue street sign. That corner is the one people already use as shorthand for Filipino Woodside.

The sign went up on June 12, 2022, Philippine Independence Day, after the City Council approved the co-name in December 2021. The push started after a 2020 mural at 69th and Roosevelt honoring Filipino healthcare workers. Assemblymember Steven Raga had been talking about a Little Manila marker since 2012. He is hosting this parade with Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Woodside on the Move, Bright Spot Community Development Center, NaFFAA New York State, and FANHS Metro New York. FALA NY is a listed co-sponsor.

Phil-Am Food Mart has been on that stretch since 1976. Ihawan and the old Philippine National Bank corner sit on the same 70th Street stub. Nurses who came for Elmhurst Hospital filled the apartments behind Roosevelt in the late 1960s and 1970s. The parade is catching up to a corridor that was already there.

The day is free. Applications for vendors, performers, and marchers were still being collected in September, so the stage card will firm up late. Roosevelt Avenue between 69th and 74th is already the restaurant row. Eat there after, whether or not the official stalls are thick.

The 7 train to 69th Street, or the 7/E/F/M/R at 74th Street–Broadway, puts you on the block. Do not park on 70th that afternoon. Questions go to Raga's district office at ad30@nyassembly.gov or (718) 651-3185.

Sunday is also the last day of Jersey City's Durga Puja at Dickinson High School. Those are different boroughs and different reasons to leave the house.

Our take: come for the block party more than the parade line. Eat on Roosevelt after. Confirm the route on Raga's office or Woodside on the Move the week of.

When: October 18, 2026, noon–6 p.m.
Where: 70th St between Roosevelt Ave and 41st Ave, Woodside, NY 11377
