Morning Glories: Diwali 2026 at Waterloo Park

Waterloo Greenway lists Morning Glories: Diwali for Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Moody Amphitheater in Waterloo Park. The program is free.

Morning Glories is the conservancy’s childhood education series: bilingual storytelling, music, dance, hands-on art, and nature play. The Diwali edition adds cultural performances and a chance to learn Festival of Lights basics without a temple RSVP or a night-market crush. Waterloo Greenway’s fall announcement names H-E-B Tournament of Champions, Delta Air Lines, and Waterloo Sparkling Water as series supporters. The program is presented at no cost.

Who this is for: central Austin families with young kids who want a morning Diwali activity and can be downtown by 9:00. Skip it if you want an all-day bazaar with fireworks energy. That was Round Rock Diwali Festival on October 24 at Centennial Plaza, the free north-corridor plaza night with stages into 10:00 p.m.

The date sits the Saturday before Lakshmi Puja on November 8. It is two weeks after Round Rock and a week before NightMarket.fun on November 14 at Lakeline Park in Cedar Park. GSGA Navratri is the ticketed Round Rock Sports Center garba lane earlier in October. Stack Round Rock Diwali and this morning only if you already did the north corridor. Do not treat Morning Glories as a substitute for a full mela.

Moody Amphitheater is the open lattice stage on the Waterloo Park lawn at about 1401 Trinity Street, with the Capitol dome in the background on clear days. The conservancy office lists 1111 Red River Street nearby. Street and garage parking around Red River and Trinity fills for weekend park programs. CapMetro and a short walk from downtown hotels are the calmer plan. November mornings can start cool on the lawn. Bring a layer, water, and a small blanket if your kids sit better off the concrete.

Our take: go if you have elementary-age kids and want a free downtown Diwali without fighting Centennial Plaza crowds. Arrive near 9:00, stay for one performance and a craft table, then leave before noon lunch traffic.
