Otakon returns July 31–August 2, 2026 to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place NW / Allen Y. Lew Place NW). Founded in 1994, the convention stages three days of anime, manga, music, movies, video games, cosplay, and fandom panels downtown.

Registration is open now on the official site, with weekend and single-day options plus hotel blocks listed under Travel. The Mt. Vernon Sq / Convention Center Metro stop on Green/Yellow lines sits at a convention exit.

How it stacks in the DMV calendar

Otakon sits between July's Asia in a Bite Navy Yard weekend and August food runs (Live Night Market Hanover, Panda Fest, Chinese Culture Festival). If you are day-tripping without a badge for every hour, treat nearby restaurants and CID-style browsing as separate plans; weekend Metro hours help, but last trains still cut off earlier than con floors close.
