Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation lists YèShì Chinatown Night Market for Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 6 to 10 p.m. The closed streets are 10th between Arch and Winter, and Race between 9th and 11th. Admission is free. It runs rain or shine.

PCDC has staged the market since 2011 as an open-air night meant to show Chinatown as both a commercial strip and a neighborhood. Recent editions average more than 20,000 people and 60-plus vendors. USA Today ranked it No. 5 among Best Cultural Festivals. That scale matters on a Thursday: this is a full street takeover, not a quiet block party.

This year's vendor board already names Chinatown regulars and roaming trucks, from Sang Kee Peking Duck House and Matcha Maiko to Drip Vietnamese Cafe, Yakitori Boy, Bonchon, and Kanto Filipino BBQ. Craft and art stalls fill the other half of the loop, with live performances posted on the same page. Treat the list as a starting map. Day-of lines will decide what you actually eat.

Arrive by SEPTA if you can. The Market-Frankford Line at 11th or 13th Street, and the Broad Street Line Chinatown stop, put you a short walk from the closed blocks. Buses on the 23, 38, 44, 45, 48, 61, and 62 routes also land nearby. Entrances open at Arch and 10th, Winter and 10th, Race and 9th, and Race and 11th. Street parking exists, but lots fill fast once Race and 10th close for stalls. Indego bike share corrals sit nearby at 156 N. 9th Street and 813 Arch Street if you are already downtown.

The same night doubles as prize pickup for PCDC's Chinatown World Cup mural scavenger hunt. Find all twenty murals around the neighborhood, take a photo with yourself and each mural visible, then post on Instagram tagging @chinatownpcdc and @chenlin.cai. After organizers verify the set, they DM claim instructions for a free postcard pack. Pickup is at the night market on October 8. It is a good excuse to walk the side streets before the food lines densify.

Who this is for: Center City and South Philly diners who want Chinatown without a Saturday crush, families who can eat dinner before 8 p.m., and anyone stacking the scavenger hunt into one Thursday plan. Skip it only if you need a quiet table. The Friendship Gate end of the loop is where stages and speakers usually pull the crowd. Bring cash and a card. Some craft stalls still prefer cash even when the food trucks take tap.

Our take: Thursday night in Philly Chinatown is the easy midweek plan before weekend film and mela calendars take over. Eat early, pick one dessert stop, and leave before the last wave hits Race Street.
