Diwali Deepotsav is Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park. The KPBS arts calendar card puts the evening at 4:30 to 10:00 p.m. That is the reading to use. The same listing’s calendar UI sometimes prints the end as 10 a.m., which is a glitch. Confirm with SDIAS the week of if the clock shifts.
SDIAS, the San Diego Indian American Society, is the long-running organizer of this Balboa Diwali. Partners named on the 2026 KPBS card are Ekal Vidhyalaya, SEWA International, and House of India. Contact lines on that card are info@sdias.org and (858) 414-3104.
The holiday itself is Sunday, November 8. San Diego puts the public park version a month early, on the organ lawn. KPBS lists the night as all ages and shows a $10 price field. Older aggregator copy sometimes called the park Diwali free. Do not lock free for 2026. Use the dated KPBS card, then double-check with SDIAS before you assume walk-up cash or a donation jar.
SDIAS’s own showcasing page describes the annual Festival of Lights without locking this year’s clock or ticket line. The society also runs Unity in Diversity, a dance program at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts since 2005, and a Festival of Dolls Navratri. Those are different dates. This Saturday is the park Diwali. House of India is one of the International Cottages on Pan American Plaza, the same cottage row that already hosts Chinese, Korean, and Pakistani cultural days.
Expect cultural performance, food, and vendors. Aggregator copy also mentions dandiya and a Ramayana skit. Wait for SDIAS before you treat those as a locked order. The organ pavilion is an outdoor bowl. Bring a layer. The lawn fills.
The same Saturday is crowded on purpose. Mira Mesa Street Fair is the afternoon on Camino Ruiz. Halika Fest is a Filipino mental-health fair at the International Cottages, also in the park, earlier in the day. You can walk from Halika to the organ pavilion. You cannot do Mira Mesa and a 4:30 organ start without a hard choice. GASD Navratri Night 2 is the following Saturday. Kiku Matsuri is October 25 at Hangar 858.
Balboa parking is the Presidents Way and Inspiration Point lots, plus the park garages. They fill when a big Saturday is on. The 7 and Rapid 215 serve the park edge. The organ pavilion address is 1549 El Prado. House of India sits on the cottage plaza a short walk south.
Our take: this is still the San Diego Diwali to put on a calendar if you want a public park night and not a temple RSVP. Arrive closer to 4:30 if you have kids. Budget for the KPBS $10 line until SDIAS says otherwise. If you only have one October 3, pick the organ lawn over Mira Mesa unless you already live on Camino Ruiz.
When: October 3, 2026, 4:30–10:00 p.m. (confirm if KPBS UI still shows a 10 a.m. end)
Where: Spreckels Organ Pavilion, 1549 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101
