Tickets from $15
Flushing Town Hall is holding its 12th Diwali Festival on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. at 137-35 Northern Boulevard.
This year's theme is The Indian Wedding. Kathak dancer Abha Roy and her Srijan Dance Company are the named performance. Roy founded Srijan in Queens around 2000 and has been the Town Hall's Diwali artistic director since the series began. She trained at Kathak Kendra in New Delhi and has taught in city schools for decades. If you have seen this afternoon before, you have probably seen her students.
The rest of the card is food, dance, music, and art for all ages. Buy on the Town Hall ticket portal. Adults are $20, members $15, children free. The box office is (718) 463-7700, extension 222.
The building is the 1862 Flushing Town Hall, the brick civic hall that ran the old Town of Flushing until consolidation in 1898. It is a city landmark and on the National Register. Teddy Roosevelt once spoke from the portico steps. Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts programs it now as a city cultural institution. You are in a small civic theater. Four hours is enough.
The 7 train to Main Street–Flushing, then a walk north to Northern Boulevard and east toward Linden Place, is the usual path. LIRR Flushing–Main Street works if you are coming from Long Island. The walk is short and ugly in the rain, which is why the room exists.
Diwali at Times Square is already done by then, on October 24. Asia Society's family afternoon is November 7 on Park Avenue. Actual Diwali is November 8. The same Sunday, Bangladesh Puja Samiti is at Gujarati Samaj in Fresh Meadows. That is a hall puja with a late cultural night. This is the ticketed Town Hall matinee. You cannot sit both.
The Ganesh Temple on Bowne Street will have its own Navaratri and holiday calendar. Use that for temple hours. Use this page for the Town Hall afternoon.
Our take: buy this if you want chairs and Kathak more than a Times Square crush. It is the Queens indoor date. Confirm the box office before you go.
When: November 1, 2026, noon–4 p.m.
