BPSNY Durga Puja 2026 at Gujarati Samaj of New York
Bangladesh Puja Samiti of New York's 37th Durga Puja is Saturday and Sunday, October 31–November 1, 2026, at Gujarati Samaj of New York in Fresh Meadows.
Bangladesh Puja Samiti of New York is holding its 37th Durga Puja Saturday and Sunday, October 31–November 1, 2026, at Gujarati Samaj of New York.
BPSNY was founded in 1990 and calls itself the first North American Bangladeshi Hindu nonprofit. The office is at 69-42 43rd Avenue in Woodside. The puja is not there. It is at the Gujarati Samaj hall, 173-15 Horace Harding Expressway in Fresh Meadows, the 12,000-square-foot center the Samaj bought in 1985. The hall holds about 700. It is a membership weekend in a rented Queens hall.
The posted puja blocks are Sasthi at noon, Saptami at 1, and Ashtami at 2. Anjali is 1 to 2 p.m. Prasad runs 4:30 to 8. Cultural programming is listed 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Those are the hours on the BPSNY homepage. Treat them as a starting grid. Hall pujas slip, and the site does not yet split Saturday from Sunday in any finer way.
The committee says it has raised more than a million dollars for community services over the years. That is their language. For a reader it just means this is a membership weekend with a late stage. They have not posted a public ticket price. Call before you assume the door is free. The numbers on the site are (347) 653-5163 and (646) 461-0494, or bpsatnewyork@gmail.com.
The Q88 and Q17 stop on Horace Harding at Fresh Meadows Lane, a short walk from the hall. The 7 to Main Street–Flushing plus a bus also works. Driving the Long Island Expressway service road is possible. Give yourself lot time on a puja Sunday.
The same Sunday, Flushing Town Hall's Diwali is noon to 4 on Northern Boulevard. That is a ticketed Kathak afternoon. This is a Bangladeshi Hindu puja with a night program. You can do Town Hall at noon and still reach Horace Harding for evening culture if you leave on time. Times Square Durga Utsav and Jersey City's GSPC weekend are already over by then.
Our take: go if you want a Queens hall puja with a late cultural night. Confirm hours and any door fee the week of. If you only want chairs and a wedding-themed Diwali, Town Hall at noon is cleaner.
When: October 31–November 1, 2026. Anjali 1–2 p.m. Prasad 4:30–8. Culture 6:30 p.m.–midnight.
Where: Gujarati Samaj of New York, 173-15 Horace Harding Expy, Fresh Meadows, NY 11365
