JLF Houston is Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Asia Society Texas Center, 1370 Southmore Boulevard.

This is the ninth Houston edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, the Rajasthan book gathering that now tours a handful of U.S. cities. Asia Society's page is the one to use for Saturday talks, the shopping bazaar, and food vendors.

The building itself is worth a first look if you have never been. Yoshio Taniguchi designed it, his only freestanding work in the United States, and it opened in the Museum District in April 2012. It sits on Southmore among houses, a short walk from the Museum District METRORail stop.

Tickets are listed around $20, or $10 for students and educators with ID. Members get a discount. Buy on the Asia Society ticket portal before you drive in.

The center's lot is across Southmore, entered from Caroline or Austin, and is listed at $7 on a card. That lot is actually open for this Saturday. Night Market later turns the same pavement into the festival, so do not assume the parking pattern holds all fall. Street meters in the district cap at four hours.

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is on the announced list. She is the McDavid professor of creative writing at the University of Houston and wrote The Palace of Illusions and Independence, which won an American Book Award in 2024. If you only know JLF as a faraway Jaipur weekend, she is the local reason the Houston stop keeps landing.

The rest of the named slate includes Karan Mahajan, whose novel The Association of Small Bombs was a National Book Award finalist, plus Ragini Tharoor Srinivasan, Kanwal Singh Rekhi, and Benjamin Moser. Asia Society says Houston writers share the rooms too. Treat the list as a starting point. Sessions move.

Our take: go if you want a South Asian culture day that is chairs and conversation instead of a stadium field. It is a week before Korean Festival Houston at Discovery Green. Do not try to stack both as one downtown blur.

If you are already doing fall dates at this address, Diwali Lights is October 18. Night Market is November 6.

When: October 3, 2026, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Where: Asia Society Texas Center, 1370 Southmore Blvd, Houston, TX 77004
