New York Buddhist Church lists its Obon Odori Festival for Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on West 106th Street at Riverside Drive, steps from the temple at 331 Riverside Drive. The sangha moved the street dance back to this Upper West Side block after securing the neighborhood permit.
Expect Bon odori circle dancing, taiko (including Soh Daiko in prior years), origami for kids, and a remembrance frame rather than a vendor mall. Admission is free. Anyone can join the dance circle; you do not need a yukata, though many regulars wear one.
