PARA SA KULTURA Filipino Night Market at Oakton College

History Month on a Des Plaines campus looks like vendors, food lines, and a free four-hour loop.

PARA SA KULTURA returns Friday, October 16, 2026 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Oakton College, 1600 Golf Road. Everybody’s Market organizes the Filipino night market with campus partners. Expect food, shopping, culture, and community programming across the Des Plaines campus.

Prior Oakton editions leaned on Filipino-owned micro-businesses and food vendors, with live performances from Oakton students, Niles North High School, and local Chicago Filipino American artists. A recent campus run listed more than thirty vendors. Treat the 2026 vendor and stage grids as confirm-closer-to-date on Eventbrite. The shape should still hold: small makers, food lines, and a crowd that stays through early evening. Everybody’s Market has used the Oakton partnership to keep the night public and campus-scaled.

Admission is free. Free parking is listed. Eventbrite RSVP is encouraged even when the door stays open. All-ages. Mid-October evenings cool fast in the northwest suburbs, so bring a layer and wear shoes that survive vendor loops.

Filipino American families across Des Plaines, Niles, Skokie, and the northwest suburbs are the core crowd. Anyone hunting a public Pinoy night market without a downtown club ticket fits too. Filipino American History Month already pulls programming across Chicagoland in October; this campus night is the one built around vendors and a free door.

Des Plaines is an easy drive from the Edens corridor. CTA riders should budget a bus or rideshare from the end of the Blue Line. There is no campus train stop. Arrive near 5:00 p.m. if you want calmer food lines before the room peaks. Put Golf Road in the rideshare so you hit Des Plaines, not Skokie.

Oakton’s COMPASS / AANAPISI partners have used the TenHoeve and Student Center corridor for past Para Sa Kultura nights. Ask at the door if you need indoor seating for elders.
