POST Houston is putting Filipino American History Month on a Sunday downtown. October 11, 2026, the market opens at 11 a.m. Live programming runs from noon to 9 p.m. across The Docks, POST Market, and the X Atrium at 401 Franklin Street.
The building is the old Barbara Jordan Post Office, rebuilt as a food hall and event yard. You can walk it from the convention-center side if you are already downtown for Korean Festival Houston that same weekend. Discovery Green is Saturday and Sunday. This is Sunday only, and it is a different room.
POST lists more than 20 food and drink vendors and more than 20 retail tables. The Philippine Consulate General in Houston will run overseas-voter registration from noon to 5 p.m. for the 2028 Philippine presidential election. That booth is the one practical reason to come even if you skip the stage.
Filipino American National Historical Society Texas is on the partner list. FANHS started Filipino American History Month in 1992. Congress made it official in 2009. FYP Cultural Ambassadors, UniPro Texas, NAFFAA, and the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce Houston are also listed.
FYP, Filipino Young Professionals of Houston, is the same group behind the Houston Filipino Street Festival the following Saturday at Constellation Field in Sugar Land. If you can only do one, the stadium night is the bigger ticketed show. If you want a free downtown afternoon first, start here.
The posted stage card starts with a Mindanao chicken pastil demo at noon, then Houston B-girls, a siopao eating contest, Tropical Rhythms (the local hula and Philippine dance troupe working festivals since 2001), and a late karaoke block on The Docks. Cameron Concepcion, listed as an American Idol Golden Ticket recipient, is on The Docks at 4:30. Treat times as a day-of check. POST pages shuffle.
There is also open pickleball in the X Atrium from noon to 5, with a waiver at the court. The Houston Rockets and Comets have a giveaway table. The food market and the consulate booth are still the useful parts.
Our take: this is the easy FAHM entry. Free, inside-the-Loop, and useful if Sugar Land on the 17th is too far after a Saturday at Discovery Green. RSVP on the POST page so they have a headcount. Parking is the usual downtown tax. METRORail's Downtown Transit Center is the cleaner arrival.
When: October 11, 2026. Market 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Programming from noon.
Where: POST Houston, 401 Franklin St, Houston, TX 77201
