QARI's August Moon Festival returns Sunday, August 16, 2026, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., on Coddington Street in Quincy Center with performances, food trucks, games, and a street market.

Quincy Asian Resources Inc. and the City of Quincy host the 39th August Moon Festival on Sunday, August 16, 2026, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Coddington Street in Quincy Center. It is free. The festival has run since 1987 and draws more than 15,000 guests in recent years, which on a four-hour street closure feels dense fast.
QARI is a South Shore nonprofit serving Asian immigrants and families; August Moon is its flagship partnership with the city. Boston Magazine named it Best Street Festival in 2018. The holiday celebrates harvest and the full moon as symbols of prosperity and unity across Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and other Asian communities in Quincy, which has one of the highest Asian American population shares in Massachusetts.
Expect performances, food trucks, carnival games, cultural booths, and a street market with roughly 85 vendor booths along Coddington from the entrance past the YMCA. Lion dance and opening ceremonies start at noon. The 2026 lineup included Northeastern's Korean Media and Dance Club for K-pop, Westwood Chinese Dance School, Boston Chinese Dance, and other local troupes per QARI's pre-festival media.
Red Line to Quincy Center is a five-minute walk. Limited free parking sits at South Shore YMCA and Quincy High School. Do not count on a Coddington curb spot at 12:30. Four hours goes fast, so pick a lion set and one food truck and do not try to do everything.
This is Quincy's festival, a week after Boston Chinatown's August Moon. Saturday's Lowell Water Festival is the other big outdoor day if you are building a weekend.
Who this is for: South Shore families, Quincy residents, and anyone who wants a pan-Asian street fair bigger than a single Greenway park afternoon. Skip it if you hate crowds; 15,000 on Coddington is shoulder-to-shoulder by 1 p.m.
Our take: arrive at 11 a.m. for booth space, stay for noon lion dance, eat before 2 p.m. lines win. Quincy is the South Shore moon festival; Chinatown is the downtown edition. Do both only if you love moon cakes.
