Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church invites everyone to its 2026 Obon Festival on Saturday, August 8 at 32975 Alvarado-Niles Road in Union City. Admission is free. Food sales begin at 5 p.m.; Obon dance starts at 7 p.m., with Japanese music from the San Jose Chidori Band and optional pre-festival dance practices listed on community calendars.
Hatsubon and Obon service follow Sunday, August 9 at 10 a.m. for those marking first Obon. Bring cash for food lines and confirm any pre-order details with the church office if you want specific dishes.
