Criteria are simple. It has to be a real night-market format, not a daytime food fest with string lights. Dates are verified for August. Each pick has a clear reason the drive still makes sense.
1. Richmond Night Market (Richmond, BC)
North America's largest Asian-style night market is still mid-season, not winding down. The 2026 run goes through September 20 at 8351 River Road, with Friday and Saturday nights typically 7 p.m. to midnight and regular Sundays to 11 p.m. Tourism Richmond lists general admission at $7, with After Dark entry at $5 after 10 p.m. Take the Canada Line to Bridgeport; parking fills fast. 2. 626 Night Market Arcadia (Santa Anita Park)
This is the SoCal destination weekend. 626 returns to Santa Anita Park August 14–16, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., the last Southern California stop before October's Pleasanton edition. Founded in the San Gabriel Valley in 2012, it is still the scale check for anyone who wants racetrack-lot night-market energy rather than a neighborhood sidewalk. 3. Queens Night Market (Flushing Meadows)
Saturdays only, 4 p.m. to midnight, through August 22 behind the New York Hall of Science. Then the market pauses for the U.S. Open through mid-September. That makes August the last stretch before the break if you want the affordable vendor culture Queens is known for. Take the 7 train to 111th Street; parking is limited and paid. 4. Toronto Waterfront Night Market (Hotel X / Exhibition Grounds)
WNMFEST runs August 14–16 at Hotel X Toronto on the Exhibition Grounds: pan-Asian vendors, music, and the Illuminasian floating lantern program. Friday and Saturday are 19+, Sunday is all-ages. 5. Argyle Night Market (Uptown Chicago)
Every Thursday through August 27, 5 to 9 p.m., on Argyle Street between Kenmore and Sheridan. Free admission, local Vietnamese corridor restaurants, and weekly performance programming since 2013.
