HBO’s Crazy Rich Asians series opens global auditions through November 30
HBO and Firefly Casting opened a global call for the Crazy Rich Asians series through November 30. Free Actors Access self-tapes; Posy and William are the two roles on the notice.

HBO and Firefly Casting opened a global talent search for two roles in the Crazy Rich Asians television series: Posy and William. Submissions run through November 30, 2026. The notice is for an HBO hour-long drama that Adele Lim is showrunning, with Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Ronny Chieng returning as series regulars and Michelle Yeoh recurring. Production is aimed at 2027. Today's news is the open call, not a full cast list.
The casting page is specific. Posy is an East Asian woman in her 30s: glamorous, brazenly ambitious, a former socialite whose marriage to a notorious tycoon has collapsed. Casting describes her as flamboyant, shameless, and oddly endearing, with an appetite for wealth, status, and attention. She must be fluent in English and familiar with Mandarin. William is a Chinese man in his 20s, the charismatic son of a Shanghai real estate billionaire, a thrill-seeking "princeling" with a mischievous streak and genuine warmth underneath. He must be fluent in English and conversational in Mandarin. Firefly is reading only these two roles right now and lists them as leads.
Plot is still open. The names Posy and William do not publish a season outline by themselves. Readers of Kevin Kwan's sequels will notice that William's description tracks Carlton Bao, Rachel Chu's Mainland half-brother in China Rich Girlfriend, almost line for line, and at least one agency posting used Carlton's name with the same language. That is a fair book-to-casting comparison. It is not an HBO confirmation that William is Carlton, or that Shanghai inheritance fights and Tyersall Park will dominate eight episodes. Posy does not map cleanly onto a major named figure in the published trilogy from the casting copy alone. Shanghai money, a fallen climber, and bilingual fluency are the firm signals. Romance arcs, wedding fallout, and who gets poisoned stay speculation until the writers say so.
The verified application path is narrower than the Facebook forwards. The official open call sits on Breakdown Services and needs an Actors Access or Breakdown Express login. Firefly's circulated link is tinyurl.com/CRAOPENCALL. Applicants self-tape to the attached sides. There is no fee, and you do not have to memorize lines before an interview. The notice says you may not hear back before the search ends, and asks people not to follow up. It also flags that a digital replica may be created for the role under SAG rules. Posts that ask for money, demand DMs of passport scans, or gate the sides behind a comment keyword are not the Firefly portal. If you are auditioning, use the Actors Access open call, hit November 30, and match the Mandarin bar the breakdown sets: familiarity for Posy, conversation for William.
