Mindy Kaling has another ensemble comedy on Hulu, and the setup is classic New York roommate chaos with a Murray Hill address. Not Suitable for Work follows two neighbor groups in the same apartment building as their lives keep overlapping, with new episodes dropping on Tuesdays.
The Wrap's cast guide centers five friends: Ella Hunt as AJ, a newcomer starting at investment bank Fisher-Stassen; Avantika as Abby, her stylist-assistant roommate; Jack Martin as Josh, a news-station PA with family media connections; Nicholas Duvernay as Kel, a med student with acting dreams and an obvious crush on Abby; and Will Angus as Davis, their roommate and AJ's bank colleague.
If those names feel familiar, the guide connects the dots. Hunt played Sue Gilbert on Dickinson; Avantika was Karen in the Mean Girls musical film; Duvernay played Zion on The White Lotus season 3.
The recurring bench is where the series widens. Jay Ellis plays AJ and Davis's managing director Bill; Constance Wu plays Abby's exacting boss Vanessa; Ego Nwodim plays Kate, a former flame of Kel's; Victor Garber plays broadcaster Wes Dryden; and Michael Benjamin Washington plays landlord Antoine.
That mix of rom-com leads, workplace satire, and recognizable supporting talent is the Kaling formula in a new neighborhood. For viewers building a Hulu queue, the cast guide is the fastest way to see who you already know before episode one.
The Wrap has full character breakdowns and prior credits for each actor if you want to go deeper than the core five.
