Lisa Ling has signed with Creative Artists Agency. Variety reported the deal on October 26. CAA will represent her in a variety of fields. The report does not attach a new series, a film, or a book.

Ling has been working beyond one newsroom for a long time. She is a Chinese American journalist from the Sacramento area. As a teenager she covered conflicts for Channel One. She co-hosted The View, then spent years on National Geographic's Explorer. On OWN's Our America with Lisa Ling and CNN's This Is Life with Lisa Ling, she stayed with communities that rarely get more than a sound bite, including addiction inside devout towns and mental health on Los Angeles streets. On Max, Take Out with Lisa Ling followed Asian American restaurants from Little Saigon to Louisiana and used the kitchens to open family history. She has also written books. Somewhere Inside, with her sister Laura, covers Laura's detention in North Korea and the campaign to bring her home.

That deal is meant to cover television, film, and publishing work of the kind she already does. Secondary reporting names Christina Chou and Kevin Lin for film and television literary work, and Christina Kuo for television. Variety described her more simply as a journalist, producer, and author who recently contributed at CBS News. None of those accounts names a new series or film.

She has kept adding work outside daily news. She founded MightyLings, a digital platform around intergenerational wellness, and sits on boards that include The Asian American Foundation. In May she received a Global Impact honor at Character Honors. In late September she guest co-hosted The View again. An earlier overall deal with HBO Max produced Take Out after a travel series she had planned was blocked by pandemic travel limits. People often read an agency signing as if a show were attached. This report does not attach one.

When a title, a streamer order, or a book deal lands, that will be the next piece. For now the news is who represents her.

What to Watch

Why Asia may be the next media and entertainment epicenter

Asia already takes the largest regional slice of global box office and posted double-digit music growth in 2025. Hollywood still mints event movies. It is also selling fewer seats, thinner slates, and a merger stuck in court.
