Ballston Quarter Diwali 2026
Ballston BID lists a free Festival of Lights Diwali evening Friday, October 16, 2026, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ballston Quarter, 4238 Wilson Boulevard. Pop-up market, DJ, henna, dance, rangoli, and a photo backdrop.
Free admission

Ballston BID is listing a Festival of Lights Diwali for Friday, October 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ballston Quarter, 4238 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington. Admission is free. All ages. The Eventbrite card frames it as a four-hour in-person evening, not a ticketed expo.
The program list is the reason to come after work: a pop-up market with local vendors, a live DJ with Indian music through the evening, henna while supplies last, a cultural dance set, a community rangoli table, a Diwali photo backdrop, and a short festival finale. Programming runs across the night rather than as one timed stage block.
This is a mall plaza celebration from the Ballston Business Improvement District, not a temple clock. Ballston Quarter is the redeveloped commons on Wilson Boulevard in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor, the Arlington office and apartment strip that already treats Friday evening as outdoor hang time when the weather holds.
Orange Line and Silver Line trains stop at Ballston-MU. The station dumps you onto the Wilson and Fairfax Drive grid within a short walk of the Quarter. Drivers get the usual garage hunt after 5:00 p.m. on a corridor Friday. Transit is the cleaner story if you already work nearby.
Reserve a free spot on the Eventbrite card if the BID keeps RSVP open. There is no ticket price on the listing. Bring kids if you want. The card says all ages, and the rangoli table is the easy family beat.
UHJT's Diwali Mela is October 10 at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, the free association mela with a full daytime clock. Heritage India is the later indoor expo weekend at Dulles Town Center, tickets at the door. Ballston is the Arlington Friday if you want lights, henna, and a market without a school lot or an expo hall.
Who this is for: Ballston and Clarendon office crowds, plus Arlington families who can make a 4:00 p.m. start. Skip it if you wanted a two-day indoor bazaar. That is Sterling on October 24–25. Skip it if you wanted UHJT's school-grounds day. That already ran on the 10th.
Henna and rangoli are supply-limited on the listing. Arrive earlier if those are the draw. The dance set and DJ are the evening spine for people who show up after dinner.
Our take: leave work for the 4:00 p.m. open if you can. Stay through the dance set. Treat it as a plaza Diwali, not a mandir calendar, and do not expect Heritage India's booth density on Wilson Boulevard.
When: October 16, 2026 (4–8 p.m.)
Where: Ballston Quarter, 4238 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203
