Otsukimi Japanese Moon Viewing Festival in Plano

Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth stages Otsukimi on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 6–10 p.m. at Haggard Park, 901 East 15th Street in Plano. Admission is free; organizers encourage free ticket reservations for updates and prize drawings.

Expect taiko, sumo and martial-arts demonstrations, traditional dance, live music, anime and pop-culture corners, and hands-on workshops. Children’s games are free, and the food pavilion expands the Japanese and Asian dinner options inside the park. A moon-rabbit headgear craft gives younger visitors a direct way into the Otsukimi folklore about a rabbit pounding mochi on the moon.

This is JASDFW’s largest public event. The organization estimates that roughly 6,000 people attended in 2025, so reserve the free ticket for updates and arrive before the evening performance crowd peaks.

Downtown Plano DART station sits on the east side of Haggard Park and serves the Red Line, plus some Orange Line trains. The station has no public parking. If you drive, check downtown public-lot restrictions rather than treating the station as a park-and-ride.

Our take: this is the DFW moon event for a specifically Japanese harvest-night atmosphere and a compact downtown setting. Asia Times Square Mid-Autumn the prior weekend is larger, food-heavier, and more broadly pan-Asian.
