Sunset Mercantile is listing its fourth annual Diwali festival for Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market & Mercantile on 37th Avenue between Ortega and Quintara. Admission is free. The weekly market keeps its usual farm stalls and adds Diwali programming: live music, cooking demos, a sari demo, henna, diya decorating, a rangoli workshop at Artship, South Asian pop-up vendors, special treats, and free chai. Program details firm up closer to the day on sunsetmercantilesf.com, so refresh that page before you leave if you are chasing a specific workshop slot.

A raffle sits beside the festival programming. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20, sold at the Info Booth, at The Sunset Emporium, or by Venmo to @sunsetmercantile with your name, contact info, and "Diwali" in the note. Buy by noon on November 8. The drawing is 12:50 p.m. Prizes come from local shops including Arizmendi Bakery, Underdog Tres, Henry's House of Coffee, Judahlicious, Little Treat, Sloat, Hek Fon, Shanta Nimbark Sacharoff, and The Sunset Emporium.

This is the Outer Sunset street market on Diwali day itself, fog and all. Crissy Field was Saturday in the Presidio. Oakland Diwali was Saturday night at BLOC15. Bhangra & Beats is Friday, November 13, downtown at Yerba Buena. Outer Sunset is the west-side Sunday if you want produce, chai, and crafts without a downtown night crowd. The market is presented by Sunset Mercantile with OEWD and the People of Parkside Sunset, which is why the Diwali add-on still feels like a neighborhood market first.

Muni lines 7, 29, and 48 serve the corridor. There is no dedicated lot; use surrounding street parking and expect it to tighten after mid-morning. CalFresh, WIC, and EBT work at the market through the Info Booth coin system, and WIC vouchers go straight to approved farmers. Dogs stay off the certified market floor except service animals. Walk them on the sidewalk outside the stalls. The market is smoke-free under San Francisco Health Code rules for Sunset Mercantile events.

Who this is for: Outer Sunset and west-side families who want Diwali folded into their Sunday market run. Skip it if you needed a night stage and food-truck grid. That is Yerba Buena five days later.

Arrive near 9:00 for calmer browsing and Artship space. Buy raffle tickets before noon if you want in on the draw. Five hours is the full market window, morning-heavy by design, so this is a produce-and-crafts Diwali rather than an after-dark stage. Refresh the Mercantile Diwali page for the final performance grid.

When: November 8, 2026 (9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.)
Where: Outer Sunset Farmers Market, 37th Ave between Ortega and Quintara, San Francisco, CA 94116
