Austin–Taichung 40th Anniversary Celebration at AARC

Austin–Taichung Sister City Committee and Austin Sister Cities International mark 40 years of city friendship on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Asian American Resource Center. The free, family-friendly festival runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., though organizers note the program may stretch to 3:00 p.m. Reserve a free general-admission ticket through the official Eventbrite listing.

The first 45 minutes handle welcome remarks, a video message from Taichung’s mayor, and a look at the education, business, and cultural exchanges built since the sister-city relationship began in 1986. Performances then run through roughly 2:00 p.m., with Taiwanese American youth dance and yo-yo, Austin Chinese Choir, Tzu Chi Foundation, Fo Guang Shan Temple, K-pop dance, and a closing dragon dance from a University of Texas group on the posted schedule.

Taiwanese street food, boba, community booths, family activities, and raffle drawings fill the space around the stage.

The AARC has free onsite parking plus overflow at the neighboring Austin Police Department Recruiting building. CapMetro routes 10 and 325 stop nearby; use the marked Cameron Road crossings at Cross Park Drive or Rutherford Lane.

Our take: this is the better Austin pick if you want a short, civic-minded Taiwan afternoon instead of an all-day vendor festival. The Austin Chinese Culture Festival follows one week later for the larger Mid-Autumn crowd.
