Bongo Poribar Sociocultural Association is listing Durgotsav 2026 for Saturday and Sunday, October 17–18, at St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas Street West, Oakville. Admission is free and open to the public. The flyer marks limited entry, first come first served, and notes the plan can change.

This is a rented Oakville banquet hall near Fourth Line and Dundas West, by Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. It is not a temple. The events page promises puja, prayer, and cultural music and dance. A second flyer on the same site prints the day grid the text listing left blank earlier.

Saturday, October 17, opens 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with Bodhan, Amantran, and Adhibas. Sharadiya Saptami Puja is 11:00 to 11:45 a.m., then Sharadiya Ashtami 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Pushpanjali sits 12:45 to 1:15 p.m., arati to 1:30, Chandipath into early afternoon, and prasad with community bhog into 2:30 p.m. Sandhi Puja is posted 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. The cultural program with Avishek Sinha Chowdhury, billed as ASC Live, runs 6:00 p.m. to 11:55 p.m.

Sunday, October 18, starts later: Sharadiya Nabami Puja 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., yagna, then Sharadiya Dashami into late morning, pushpanjali and arati near midday, Boron and Sindoor Khela after lunch, and Lokkhi Puja 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Evening culture is 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The sculpture credit on the schedule flyer is Subhamita Dinda. Ample free parking is posted at the venue.

Toronto Kalibari keeps the Mississauga ritual grid the same weekend, including overnight Sandhi. Bangiya Parishad is the North York Tagore Centre hall. Oakville is the Halton free door if you will not drive to Pearson or Millwick.

Who this is for: Halton Bengali families who want a walk-up weekend with a named evening singer, and anyone stacking west-GTA puja with Diwali RazzMatazz already behind them in early October. Skip it if you need Kalibari's minute-timed overnight Sandhi. That lives in Mississauga.

Sponsorship mail is info@bongoporibar.com with "Sponsorship 2026" in the subject if you are chasing that lane. For a regular visit, watch the site the week of in case the first-come hall fills early for the cultural nights. Dundas West here is Halton, not the Toronto Dundas streetcar.

Our take: Saturday if you want Sandhi and the long ASC night. Sunday if Sindoor Khela and a shorter evening are enough. Confirm the flyer still matches the site before you leave.

When: October 17–18, 2026 (Sat from 9:00 a.m.; Sun from 9:30 a.m.; see flyer for full grid)
Where: St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas St W, Oakville, ON L6M 4H9

Why Southeast Asian film hasn't had its K-drama moment yet

Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese films are smashing local box offices, and Netflix is greenlighting Southeast Asia faster than ever. The K-drama moment still has not arrived because the region is many languages, theatrical-first, and horror-shaped, not one serialized export machine.
