Free admission
Diwali Fest lists a free evening at Evergreen Cultural Centre on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The address is 1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam. The society calls the night a baithak: music and dance in a warm room, built around diyas, rather than a street fair.
Attendance is free, and the room has a capacity, so you register. Each person needs a separate form. There is no confirmation email right away. Organizers say a note arrives a few days before. Dates can move if a grant or the room falls through. Open the page again the week of the show, before you tell a group chat the plan is locked.
The producer is the Diwali Celebration Society, the Vancouver charity behind Vancouver Celebrates Diwali since 2004. This stop is the Tri-Cities one. Marine Gateway on October 24 is the walk-up mall afternoon, and that listing does not ask for a form. The Roundhouse on November 7 is the downtown version of this same small-room idea.
Who this is for: Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody readers who want Diwali on a weeknight close to home. Skip it if you want food stalls and a long outdoor program. RED FM Diwali Dhamaka on November 7 runs noon to 8:00 p.m. at Surrey Civic Plaza, and that is the bigger Saturday if the Tri-Cities night feels too short.
Evergreen sits on Pinetree Way beside Town Centre Park, across from the Coquitlam Centre mall. Lafarge Lake–Douglas station is the SkyTrain stop for this stretch of the street. The centre is on the park side. Two hours, indoors, starting at 6:00, means you can still make a late train home. Come at the start if you want a seat. The page does not publish a set list or a food menu.
The same card continues after Thursday. The Roundhouse is Saturday. Anvil Centre in New Westminster is Monday, November 9, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., also by registration. Surrey City Hall is November 15, and that stop still has no clock on the society's list. Recheck diwalifest.ca because this series has already changed venues once this fall.
Our take: register this week if Coquitlam is your city. Two hours is a reasonable weeknight, and you will not get a second email until just before the doors open.
When: November 5, 2026, 6:00–8:00 p.m. (free; register ahead)
Where: Evergreen Cultural Centre, 1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam, BC
