Diwali Fest lists Diwali in Vancouver for Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews in Yaletown. Attendance is free. Pre-registration is required because of venue capacity.
Register on the official Diwali Fest event page. Each person needs a separate form. Organizers say there is no immediate confirmation email; you get a reminder a few days before. Dates and venues can shift if grant or room issues appear, so recheck the page the week of.
The producer is the Diwali Celebration Society, a Vancouver not-for-profit secular arts charity. The festival began in 2004 as Vancouver Celebrates Diwali. What started as a one-day volunteer program is now a professionally staffed Lower Mainland series. The mandate is barrier-breaking and inclusive: South Asian music and dance for people who do not already have a temple invite, plus workshops that explain Diwali’s light-over-darkness framing without turning the afternoon into a lecture.
The Roundhouse stop is an indoor mehfil-style room with chai, not an outdoor mela grid. Dress festive if you want. Dress warm-indoor if you do not. Either works.
Who this is for: downtown and west-side readers who want a free, seated cultural program and will actually complete the registration. Skip it if you want a walk-up plaza with food trucks and no form. That is closer to RED FM Diwali Dhamaka the same Saturday, noon to 8:00 p.m. at Surrey Civic Plaza.
Diwali Fest’s 2026 card also spreads across New Westminster (Anvil Centre, October 24), Surrey Arts Centre (November 1), Coquitlam’s Evergreen Cultural Centre (November 5), and a later Surrey City Hall date (November 15). Those are sibling stops, not the Roundhouse door. Pick by city and clock rather than treating the whole series as one ticket. VAFF is a different November plan entirely if your group wants Asian film instead of Diwali programming.
The Roundhouse sits on the Yaletown False Creek edge at 181 Roundhouse Mews, a short walk from Yaletown–Roundhouse Station on the Canada Line. Street parking is tight on festival Saturdays; transit is the easier plan. The society’s own contact page lists the Roundhouse among its recurring civic venues alongside Anvil, Evergreen, and Surrey City Hall.
Our take: register early if you want the Vancouver proper date, then decide whether Surrey’s free plaza the same day is a second stop or a substitute. For most groups, one Diwali Saturday is enough.
