Diwali Fest lists a free celebration at Marine Gateway on Saturday, October 24, 2026, starting at 1:00 p.m. The page names live music, dance, treats, and henna. It does not post a closing time, so plan the afternoon and check the listing again if you need to know when the stage ends.

The mall is at 450 SW Marine Drive, built on top of Marine Drive Station. You can come up out of the Canada Line and you are already there. Parking on P1 and P2 is metered through ImPark. The train is the easier arrival, especially if you are coming from Richmond or downtown.

Marine Gateway's listing is free and does not mention a form. Diwali in Vancouver on November 7 at the Roundhouse is also free, and that one wants a form because the room is small. Saturday is the afternoon you can walk into.

Who this is for: South Vancouver and Richmond readers who want a Diwali afternoon without a signup. Skip it if you want a long outdoor plaza with food stalls and a posted close. That is closer to RED FM Diwali Dhamaka on November 7, noon to 8:00 p.m. at Surrey Civic Plaza.

Marine Drive is the last Canada Line stop before the tracks split, one branch for Richmond and one for the airport. From downtown you stay on the train through Yaletown and Oakridge and get off before the split. Marine Gateway sits in Marpole, on the south slope toward the Fraser. The Roundhouse show is the downtown one, two weeks later, with chai and a seated program. If you live near the Canada Line's southern end, Saturday is the date on your platform. If you are already downtown that weekend, you can wait for November 7.

The producer is the Diwali Celebration Society, a Vancouver not-for-profit that started this work in 2004 as Vancouver Celebrates Diwali. The series is a public Diwali for people who do not already have a temple invitation. The listing names a stage, something sweet, and henna. It does not say whether that stage is inside the mall or on the open plaza between the towers. The plaza is the square you see from the station entrance, with the Marine Gateway signs on the glass.

Their 2026 card keeps going after Saturday. Tsawwassen Mills is November 1 at 2:00 p.m. Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam is November 5, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., free if you register. The Roundhouse is November 7. Anvil Centre in New Westminster is November 9 at 5:30 p.m. Surrey City Hall is November 15. Venues on this series have already moved once this fall, so open diwalifest.ca the week you plan to go.

Our take: go Saturday if you want the version with no form. Register for the Roundhouse if you want the longer indoor afternoon and you will actually fill out the page. One of those is enough for most groups.

When: October 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. (free; no posted end time)
Where: Marine Gateway, 450 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver, BC

Why Southeast Asian film hasn't had its K-drama moment yet

Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese films are smashing local box offices, and Netflix is greenlighting Southeast Asia faster than ever. The K-drama moment still has not arrived because the region is many languages, theatrical-first, and horror-shaped, not one serialized export machine.
