Gujarati Mandal of Calgary holds its family Diwali dinner Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Rajveer Banquet Hall, 3961 52 Avenue NE. Doors 5:30 p.m. Program 6:15. Vegetarian dinner. Member adults $52.
Tickets from $52
Gujarati Mandal of Calgary is listing its 2026 Family Diwali Dinner and Entertainment Night for Saturday, November 14, at Rajveer Banquet Hall, 3961 52 Avenue NE. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The program starts at 6:15. The night runs as a seated banquet with entertainment, not a walk-through mela. It is strictly non-alcoholic. Traditional Gujarati dress is the posted code: chaniya choli or Gujarati-style sarees for women, kurta pajama or Indian suits for men.
Dinner is a full-course vegetarian meal. Swaminarayan and Jain options are listed. That matters for families who treat Diwali food rules as non-negotiable. Member adults (11 and up) are $52. Member children 6 to 10 are $26. Non-member adults are $70. Non-member children 6 to 10 are $35. Kids 5 and under are free but still need an online registration for a seat. Ticket sales close November 9. No refunds or exchanges after purchase. Bring the QR code the site emails.
Tables seat ten. The mandal publishes a seating chart with the booking flow. Active members must log in for member pricing and link other members before buying together. Membership checks happen. Guest tickets are available without that login path. This is the same organization that filled BMO Centre for Navratri at the end of October. Diwali dinner is the indoor northeast closer after those arena nights.
The same Saturday, Indian Society Utsav fills Genesis Centre on Falconridge with a broader stage-and-dinner card. Rajveer and Genesis are both northeast. They are not the same building. Choose one. Crossing 52 Avenue and Falconridge mid-program with a table of ten is how you miss the entertainment you paid for.
Who this is for: Gujarati families and guests who want a formal vegetarian Diwali dinner with a clear dress code. Skip it if you wanted a free civic plaza or a club night. That is a different mood and a different ticket. YYC Noodle Festival is already running citywide that week if you still want Asian restaurant crawls on other nights.
Book before November 9. Confirm Jain or Swaminarayan plating when you buy if that is your table's rule. Questions go to the contact on the GMofC event page, including Prasann Patel at the number listed there. Arrive for the 5:30 door if you want coats down before 6:15. Northeast banquet lots fill when two Diwali halls run the same Saturday; leave early from wherever you are coming from.
When: November 14, 2026 (doors 5:30 p.m.; program 6:15)
Where: Rajveer Banquet Hall, 3961 52 Ave NE, Calgary, AB

Velveting, explained as a Chinese kitchen technique
Velveting is the Chinese prep step that keeps stir-fry chicken and shrimp tender instead of rubbery: a cornstarch-and-oil coat, a rest, then a quick par-cook before the wok. Here is how it works and why diaspora cooks are finally seeing the name match the method.
