Southlake DiwaliFest 2026 at Town Square
Southlake Foundation lists DiwaliFest Saturday, October 24, 2026, 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Town Square. Free admission. Vendors, food, live sets, and a kids' zone.
Free admission

Southlake DiwaliFest is Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Town Square in Southlake. Southlake Foundation, the mid-cities nonprofit behind the card, locks the date and the evening clock on southlakefoundation.org/diwali-fest-2026. The 2026 flyer prints free admission. That is the door math until they change it.
The Foundation bills the night as a Festival of Lights evening for the whole square: local artisans and makers, international food, live music and dance, and a kids' zone with games. Vendor registration sits on the same page if you are selling, not only attending. Phone is 817-706-9680. The site Reach Us line is info@southlakefoundation.org. The flyer also prints events@southlakefoundation.org. Use whichever answers first the week of.
Southlake Foundation has run DiwaliFest on this circuit for several years. The site still keeps Past Events labels for Diwalifest 2022 through 2025, and the footer copyright still reads 2022. Treat those as stale chrome. The lock for planning is Saturday, October 24, 2026, 3:00 to 10:00 p.m., Town Square, free admission.
Town Square is the walkable retail and plaza core people already use for Southlake weekends, not a fairgrounds lot on the edge of town. Mid-cities families from Grapevine, Keller, and Colleyville can treat it as a drive-and-park evening closer than McKinney or Pioneer Parkway. The square fills after 5:00. Walk if you live close. Drive early if you want vendor browsing before the dinner crush.
The same Saturday is HKMKT NightMKT at Asia Times Square in Grand Prairie and the already-live Dallas Festival of Lights listing. You cannot honestly stack Grand Prairie's night-market aisle and Southlake's civic lawn after dark without choosing. Southlake is the free Town Square night if you want kids' zone first and a mid-cities address. Grand Prairie is the Hong Kong Market anniversary plaza if aisle energy is the point.
Frisco Diwali Mela is a week later, November 1, at Kaleidoscope Park. Assembly Park already ran its shorter Plano Sunday on October 11. Southlake sits in the middle of that DFW Diwali ladder: earlier than Frisco, later than Plano, same Saturday as ATS.
Who this is for: Southlake, Grapevine, and Keller families who want a free walkable square with a printed 3-to-10 clock. Skip it if you needed a night-market aisle or a ticketed downtown food festival. That is ATS the same night, or Panda Fest in November.
Our take: arrive near 3:00 if the kids' zone is why you came. Stay past 7:00 if the stage and food are the night. Trust the 2026 flyer for free admission. Do not plan from a leftover 2025 nav label.
When: October 24, 2026, 3:00–10:00 p.m. (free)
Where: Town Square, Southlake, TX

Velveting, explained as a Chinese kitchen technique
Velveting is the Chinese prep step that keeps stir-fry chicken and shrimp tender instead of rubbery: a cornstarch-and-oil coat, a rest, then a quick par-cook before the wok. Here is how it works and why diaspora cooks are finally seeing the name match the method.
