Walnut Creek Downtown lists a Diwali Celebration Street Fair for Saturday, October 24, 2026, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive. Admission is free.

The downtown event copy is short and clear: an artisan market, food vendors, and live performances, family friendly. That is the whole posted program on the listing. Do not invent night-market hours, ticket tiers, or a stage grid the page does not print.

Use the /do/diwali-celebration-street-fair URL. The bare /diwali path on walnutcreekdowntown.com has served unrelated Locust Street copy. Bookmark the /do/ page before you share the link in a group chat.

Civic Drive is the arts block, not Broadway shopping. BART's Walnut Creek station is a short walk along the downtown grid. Bring a stroller if you need one. The sidewalks are easier here than a schoolyard mela.

The 5 p.m. close is afternoon light. Eat on the block if the stalls are what you came for, and leave before the dinner rush if you still want a night date elsewhere.

Lesher Center weekends usually mean theater traffic and garage hunting. Give yourself a few extra minutes after BART, and do not assume Civic Drive curb space will be empty at noon.

The same Saturday is crowded across the metro. FOG Diwali Mela runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Washington High in Fremont. San Jose Diwali Carnival is downtown Cesar Chavez. UNDSCVRD's Golden Hour is 4 to 10 p.m. on Ritch Street in SoMa. Walnut Creek is the Contra Costa stop if you will not cross a bridge.

Cupertino's park festival is already a week earlier, October 17. This is the later East Bay civic date, aimed at families who want downtown without a schoolyard mela or a South Bay carnival lot.

Contra Costa does not get as many free Diwali street cards as Fremont or San Jose. When Walnut Creek Downtown posts one on Civic Drive, it is the local afternoon option for hills households who would rather not sit in bridge traffic for a festival.

Walnut Creek Downtown's office lines sit at 925-933-6778 and services@walnutcreekdowntown.com if the listing moves. The mailing address is a North Main Street box. The festival door is Civic Drive at the Lesher.

Who this is for: Walnut Creek, Lafayette, and Concord families who want a free downtown afternoon with kids. Skip it if you need a night market or a high-school mela. Fremont and SoMa run later that day. Skip it if you wanted Cupertino's park date. That one already passed a week earlier.

Our take: noon to mid-afternoon if you live in the East Bay hills. Leave by 4 if you still want SoMa's night market. Plan from the downtown listing's noon-to-5 street fair only, and check Lesher or downtown again the week of if the arts-center weekend card expands.

When: October 24, 2026 (noon–5 p.m.)
Where: Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Dr, Walnut Creek, CA
