Soft Power Index: who owned November 2026

November's Soft Power Index: Ramayana's Diwali theater week, Lisa's first K-pop Vegas residency, Possible Love on Netflix, Rosé at LACMA, and HBO's Crazy Rich Asians open call.

The last index was October. This one is November.

Michelle Yeoh already had the Busan prize. Rosé's LACMA night was still three weeks out. Ramayana was a trailer. Lisa's documentary was in theaters without the BLACKPINK songs. Most of those dates have arrived.

1. Ramayana

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opened worldwide on November 5, after North American paid previews the night before. Sony is distributing outside India. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Yash plays Ravana, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, and Sunny Deol plays Hanuman.

On Thursday it was No. 1 at the U.S. box office. The Numbers puts about $3.5 million across 1,433 North American theaters. Trade reports had the U.S. near $2.8 million for the day and a new Bollywood opening-day mark in the UK. Worldwide day one came in around ₹127 crore on one tally and ₹155 crore on another. Either way, diaspora audiences showed up before Diwali weekend was over.

The film still has to prove it can pull people who were not already planning the outing. For now, the point is the booking: a Sony-backed epic holding Thursday screens across North America during Diwali week.

2. Lisa

Viva La Lisa starts November 12 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. She sold out the first four dates in under ten minutes, then added two more for six nights total. She is the first K-pop artist with a Vegas residency. The room holds about 4,300 people, smaller than a stadium and closer to the residencies that keep the Strip busy for a week at a time.

October gave her Always Lalisa in theaters and Press Play on the charts. The shows run November 12 through 14, then again November 27 through 29.

3. Possible Love

Lee Chang-dong's Possible Love arrived on Netflix on November 6. Jeon Do-yeon and Sul Kyung-gu play a couple still living with a layoff after a strike. Cho Yeo-jeong is the documentary filmmaker who wants them on camera, and Zo In-sung plays her husband. The film won the Silver Lion at Venice, runs 164 minutes, and is Korea's Oscar submission. Netflix is campaigning it beyond International Feature, into picture, director, screenplay, and actress.

In October, Michelle Yeoh named Lee as the Korean filmmaker she wants to work with. This month the film is on Netflix, so you do not need a theater listing to see it.

4. Rosé

LACMA's Art+Film Gala is November 7. Rosé is the musical guest. The night honors artist Vija Celmins and Dune director Denis Villeneuve. Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio co-chair. Gucci is the presenting sponsor. A gold seat costs $10,000.

She attended as a guest in 2022 and 2023. This year she is the performer. October's Index flagged the booking. The night itself puts a BLACKPINK soloist on the program for a Los Angeles museum fundraiser built around art and film.

5. Crazy Rich Asians, open call

HBO and Firefly Casting are reading Posy and William through November 30. Adele Lim is showrunning. Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Ronny Chieng return as series regulars. Michelle Yeoh recurs. Production is aimed at 2027.

No premiere yet, just a free global self-tape path with Mandarin requirements on the notice, and a franchise that still draws diaspora attention eight years after the movie. The casting page names Shanghai money and a fallen socialite. What that means for Rachel and Nick stays open until the writers say so.

Also in the room

Lee Sung Jin launched Lila Pictures under his Netflix deal and put Ali Wong back in development on The Only Child. No air date yet, just a new banner and a reunion.

Doctor X: Mafia in White is still first across Korean channels five weeks running, and it has stayed in Netflix's Global Top 10 for non-English series. Kim Ji-won is carrying a hospital drama that cooled from its 19.5% high and still leads the night.

Toronto Reel Asian turns 30 from November 11 to 21, with digital titles through the 29th. Indonesia's Citra ceremony is still set for November 20, where Ghost in the Cell leads the ballot from October. Shah Rukh Khan's King is already lined up for Christmas overseas screens on December 24.

Mid-month still has Lisa's residency weekends, the Citra ceremony, and Reel Asian left on the calendar.
