Stray Kids are not teasing a comeback. They are booking like a stadium economy.

Stray Kids drop THIS & THAT on Aug. 7 mid-RUN IT tour, with five Seoul sellouts already done and Japan National Stadium, Rock in Rio, and STRAYCITY still ahead.

Who needs a comeback narrative when the tour is already sold out?

Stray Kids, the eight-member JYP Entertainment group, release their tenth mini album THIS & THAT on Friday, August 7 at 1 p.m. KST. The title track shares the name. Pre-release single RUN IT has been out since June 24. In-house unit 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han) is credited across all eight tracks. That is the product calendar. The real story is the rooms they already filled before the music video drops.

The album is the soundtrack, not the bet

THIS & THAT is an eight-track EP: RUN IT, the title cut, After You, FARMING, I Do, Way Out, Back Then, and a festival version of the title track. JYP has been feeding Unveil: Track teasers through July. The album trailer spent four straight days at No. 1 on YouTube’s worldwide music video trending chart, per The Korea Herald. Spotify’s Global Countdowns had the project climbing into the top tier of worldwide presaves as July closed.

Those are warm numbers. They are not the hinge. Stray Kids already debuted their first eight Billboard 200 charting projects at No. 1, a chart-history first sealed when 2025’s DO IT (SKZ IT TAPE) opened on top after KARMA did the same. Another No. 1 would extend a streak. Missing one would still leave the live machine intact. That is the point of August.

RUN IT is already a capacity argument

The RUN IT world tour opened with five nights at Seoul’s KSPO DOME on July 25, 26, 29, and August 1 and 2. All five sold out after STAY pre-sale and general sale. Tonight and tomorrow close the Seoul window. Nine months earlier, the dominATE tour finished 56 shows across 35 regions. Billboard’s 2025 Top Tours list had that run at No. 10 all-genre with about $185.7 million and 1.3 million tickets across 31 counted shows, also No. 1 among K-pop tours in the same window.

Japan is next, and the claim is larger than a dome hop. JYP says Stray Kids will be the first overseas male act to stage a standalone concert at Tokyo’s MUFG Stadium, the Japan National Stadium, on August 29 and 30, with more Japan dates through Fukuoka in October. Agency projections put seven Japan shows near 370,000 fans. Treat that as a booking ambition until the box office closes, not as a verified tally.

Then the hemisphere test. Rock in Rio booked them for September 11 on Palco Mundo, billed as the festival’s first K-pop act and a headliner that day. Live Nation and JYP’s STRAYCITY series stacks Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City around the same window, with added nights already announced on demand. In June they headlined New York’s Governors Ball, widely framed as that festival’s first K-pop main-stage close. The EP lands inside that ladder, not before it.

Our take

Most comeback coverage still asks whether the title track will chart. Ask a better question: what does an album have to do when the group already sells like infrastructure?

Our read is that THIS & THAT is proof-of-authorship maintenance more than a career reboot. All-3RACHA credits keep the self-produce brand loud while the calendar is full of firsts. STAY does not need a vulnerability story. They need a soundtrack that travels from KSPO to National Stadium to Cidade do Rock without sounding like tour merchandise.

Our verdict: watch the rooms, then the first-week units. If Seoul sellouts, a National Stadium claim, Rock in Rio, and STRAYCITY are the August spine, Friday’s drop is the score under the capacity argument. Soft power here is measured in tickets and festival firsts, not in whether the teaser looks expensive.
